Why I Chose Animas:
When it came to the end of 8th grade I didn't have much of a choice as to where to go. I just moved here last december from Scottsdale, Arizona where all the schools are big with thousands of kids even in the middle schools not just the high schools. So I had the feeling that I wanted to go to the larger high school but my parents thought otherwise. By the time school started and I was there and the first real week started it was different, I didn't really like it to be honest but as the year started to get going it ended up not being as bad as I thought. Before I moved here I went to a normal public school and it was all easy, but then I moved here and I could not grasp the concept of the project based learning. Since I've been at a project based school for awhile I have become more of an hands on learner. The difference between project based learning and textbook learning is a big difference. Project based is more hands on and more talkative learning. While textbook learning is more reading out of a book and not a lot of hands on learning activities. Learning in a project based school you are pushed in a different way than a textbook based school. You are pushed by thinking outside of the box and how to think of things a different way. The relationships between the students and teachers is something like I've never experienced before. The teachers become your best friends and you can tell them anything and they will always be there for you. At any other school you would not have as close of a relationship with your teachers because your classes are shorter and you might not see them as often because in our small school you always see you teacher around wherever you go. This is why I chose Animas.
