Project Reflection -
-How is art used in everyday life? Art is used in everyday life from everything around you. A car can be a work of art or even a flower can be. Art is how you look at things and what your perspective is on what is and isn't art. To me everything is art. I look at everything as if it were created as an art piece. You can look at a building that most people wouldn't look at as art to an statue that most people would look at as an piece of art. -How and why is art used as a vehicle for communication? Art is used as a vehicle for communication by how you portray your art. The colors can mean something to the artist or the shape of the art can mean something. But they use it as a way of communication because it could stand for something or say something throughout it that only some might understand. -What problem-solving skills are employed in making works of art? There are many problem solving skills involved in making works of art. Creating the piece doesn't have a exact set plan, there's usually some brainstormed sketches behind the final piece but throughout the whole thing there were probably many multiple changes. Also the pieces you might need for the art might not always be there so you might have to substitute the pieces with something different then what you had originally planned. -How can an artist create works of art through combining, expanding, and sequencing? An artist can complete this by starting the project and maybe he or she would see something they would like to use in it and this would create the project to expand and would be combining something you didn't think of in the beginning to adding it on throughout the project. -Why do Artists Produce Preliminary Plans? (sketches, brainstorms, storyboards, etc?) Artist use preliminary plans to start an idea. By doing this it can create the smaller idea and throughout the project this idea can grow to a larger idea that can turn into something beautiful. Project Description - For this project I chose to do it with a partner. Thought this partner happens to be in a different class which made it somewhat more difficult to complete this project in class. The first idea we started out with was to do our video based off of nature. We had an plan all laid out and then we thought about it and that wasn't going to work with both of the after school sports we were involved in. So then we decided to change our subject to family. From there we decided we would interview each family member and then we would add pictures in throughout the video. In the end it turned out better than expected. Throughout the project I feel that some of the videos were helpful and also the work time we got but the project objectives and rubric were a bit much. Also the check ins and critiques were not very helpful to me personally. I feel that this project could be more make it your own but also use the things on the rubric as best you can. |

Political Cartoon:
|
Yes I did meet the project objectives. My political cartoon represents a whale, Tilikum, in an small fish tank that someone would maybe have in there house. It then has a killer whale in it with the glass being cracked. This represents that the space he is in is way too small for him. Its not healthy for a animal of that size to be put into a small tank that humans might think is big enough when in reality its too small for the animal. I drew this to get to my audience to show them what I think is wrong with it. I personally think and agree with all others that the tanks that these animals are put into are way too small for them with their size. While others might think its fine for them to be in there and that they enjoy it, that the whales get what the treatment they wouldn't get in the ocean. Information can be shared artistically in many ways. One by cartoon drawings, which is how we decided to share our ideas. Another way is by graffiti, graffiti is an way of sharing your ideas with everyone even though it is illegal in some places but can be very beautiful to some. Creating art and viewing art are two somewhat similar things to me. Creating art is coming from your own ideas and how you want to see them artistically. While viewing art is kind of the same thing. Viewing art that someone else created can be seen in their way but also in yours. If the artist that created it sees it as an animal, you might see it as an cloud or a object or something that others might not see. Art is how you want to see it not how others want you to see it.

Pre Historic Art History Drawings:
For this project I didn't choose to create a prehistoric drawing. I chose to create a pattern, instead of doing an old extinct animal. The context around this project was to learn how art was created when there were no paint brushes, or canvases, or paint. It was all created by what they had around them. During this project we used coal and other supplies. The resources I used to create this drawing were rulers and images and my coal pencils. I feel that the image trace technique helped my drawing in many ways. One is by making it look an different way. Two by making it maybe stand out more in a certain style. Also it made it look more artistically drawn by having it look more like a certain style of art. I can see myself using this technique in the future for other projects that might need to look a certain way after I draw it. Overall I feel I could have done an actual historic drawing with a extinct animal to make it more “historic”. Also I feel that this project was really fun and I learned something new that can be helpful for future projects.

Self Portrait Project:
Artist Statement
For my self portrait I chose to take a picture of my eye. I chose to do this because its like seeing my life from my perspective. Everyone see’s life from all different ways and this is mine. LIfe isnt always easy. We have our ups and our downs. You can keep looking forward and forget the past or you can look at the past and get lost in the present. For me I keep looking forward and just expecting the best of outcomes. You can never not get lost in the past but when you do you need to help yourself forget and keep looking/going forward with your life. My eye represents how I keep looking forward and the best and try not to look back at some of the not so great times.

Teacher Creature Project:
Teacher Creature Project Reflection
For this project we were to use a teachers face and put it onto a creature or whatever we desire. This project really showed me how I can utilise photoshop to make my dreams come true. The process of making this teacher creature was pretty simple because before we even started we watched certain tutorials to to help us when we would start our project. The first step I did was to find the images I was going to use in my project. From there I would select the part if the image I was going to use and than would refine the edges and then copy and paste them on to the final image. From there I would move the images around to the right areas I would want them. The hardest part of this project for me was trying to use all the photoshop tools because I have never used photoshop before. I persevered through this by watching the tutorials and really paying attention in class to the photoshop instructions. My favorite part of this project was actually getting to create something on photoshop that was fun and different. This was my favorite part because it was something different to at school. Through this project I have learned about myself that I can complete something new and different in a certain amount of time but will also have some stuffles but can push through it. I learned that I am not the best digital artist because I have a hard time remembering how to use all the tools and that it gets pretty frustrating. But if you can use the tools and remember all of them and how to use them you can go far. I also feel that throughout this year I will have become a better photoshop year.

Landscape Project:
Scale and Proportion Reflection
During our mini photoshop project I learned a lot that will be helpful throughout this course the year. We learned about scale and proportion. We learned that scale is referring to the size of an object and its relationship to another object. While proportion is in relationship to the image and all the other characteristics involved in the image. We learned about foreground, middleground, and background. Foreground is the part that is the largest in the images or closest to the observer. Middleground is between the foreground and the background and is where everything is “normal” size to the observers eye. Background is the area behind the main object, smaller in size. The tools that I found most useful in photoshop would be the move tool, the quick selection tool, the rectangular marquee tool, and the eraser tool. The difference between a photoshop document and a JPEG is that on an photoshop document you can reopen it and edit it. But on an JPEG document its an final save as to where you can't go back and edit it. Also to upload a image on an website or anywhere you have to have an JPEG image because it won’t upload a photoshop document.

Name Project:
For this project we were to find objects that looked like a letter of our name. For all of my objects I used car names, license plates, sticks and stuff the was more creative to be seen.
